How to Succeed in Math Class
- GO TO CLASS!
- Take good notes. Copy all information written on the board.
- Review/Rewrite notes soon after class.
- Don’t put off homework until the last minute. Do it as soon after class as possible.
- Don’t just memorize the steps – UNDERSTAND the concept.
- Read ahead in the textbook and prepare questions for the instructor.
- Prepare a list of vocabulary words for each chapter.
- Work through all of the example problems in the chapter.
- While doing homework, SHOW YOUR WORK!
- Get help early. Don’t wait until you are completely lost.
- Find a study buddy and set up group study times.
- BEFORE taking a test, review graded homework and get help with problems you worked incorrectly.
- Complete any available practice tests.
- If you miss a class, make arrangements to get the material covered that day.
