The UTPB collegiate chapter of MENC, The Association for Music in America, was founded in 2005 and continues to grow as the music program grows. The chapter's primary function is to involve the students in the national movement for preserving music education in the public schools. With the collegiate membership in the national association, students receive the two primary journals: The Music Educators Journal and Teaching Music. Both journals are well respected as quality music literature in the field. An additional journal the members can elect to receive is the top music research journal - The Journal of Research in Music Education. With electronic access, the students are able to view General Music Today, Journal of Music Teacher Education, and UPDATE.
