Participating in Psychological Research
Interested in participating in psychological research? Visit the Psychology subject pool website and create a student/participant account. You will be asked to complete a brief prescreening questionnaire to determine your eligibility for some studies, and then you will have access to information about many of the Psychological studies conducted on-campus. Some of these studies will be online, so you will be able to complete these studies whenever you have some extra time. Other studies may require you to set up an appointment to come in and complete the study; for these studies you should choose from one of the available time slots and sign up for a time that will fit your schedule. For more information about the subject pool website and research participation, please contact the system administration (Dr. Eliane Boucher) at boucher_e@utpb.edu.

Conducting Psychological Research
Are you involved in running a psychology study, either as a contract study, independent research project, or Master's thesis? If so, you will first need to complete an IRB form and submit it to your research supervisor, who will then have the formed signed by Dr. Thompson (Chair of the Psychology Department) and submit the completed form to the School of Graduate Studies and Research for ethical approval. Once you have received approval, you can start collecting data for your project. If you are using undergraduate students at UTPB as your research participants, you may consider using the Psychology subject pool website as a way to recruit and schedule your participants. You'll need to send an email to the system administrator (Dr. Eliane Boucher at boucher_e@utpb.edu) to create an account as a researcher. Once your account has been created, you can go in and add your study to the subject pool (click here for additional instructions on how to set up your study on the website). To use this website, you'll also need to sign a confidentiality agreement and return it to the system administrator or to your research supervisor.
