Founders Building Complex blueThe Founders Building Complex was the first permanent structure built at the University. The three Founders Buildings served as administrative offices, classrooms and the library until the main building, the Mesa Building, was completed. The Founders Building Complex was remodeled in 1992 to facilitate the move to a four year undergraduate institution with freshmen and sophomore classes. Of the three buildings, Building A and B are the chemistry buildings. Building C is home to educational offices, the animal behavior laboratory facility and a meeting room facility.

With the concourse between buildings B and C, the three buildings form a large quadrangle, or "quad", which contains a large treed area with benches and gives access to the Founders Building fountain. The quad often serves as an outdoor facility which is frequently used by the administration and chemistry for outdoor gatherings. The faculty photos were taken at the quad and fountain.
